Melbourne, Victoria: Australian IoT firm M2M Group has appointed Kat Dempsey from Australia Post to lead its newly-merged M2M One business across Australia and New Zealand. The M2M Group is owned by Sierra Wireless.
The appointment follows the recent announcement that M2M One New Zealand was acquired by global technology company Sierra Wireless.
In the newly-created role of Senior Director Australia and New Zealand, Dempsey will lead M2M One’s trans-Tasman sales and operations with the aim of rapidly growing its presence in both regions.
M2M One, which alongside M2M Connectivity makes up the M2M Group, provide SIMs and data services on major ANZ networks using satellite, short range, cellular and low power wide area networks – including CAT M1, 4G/5G and NB IoT, LoRaWAN. They provide connectivity for 400,000+ machines and devices across industries including agriculture, mining and health.
Dempsey will draw on her diverse technology and telecommunications leadership experience gained in roles at Vodafone Global Enterprise, PayPal and Telstra over the past 19 years. In her most recent role at Australia Post she held the position of Head of Digital Payment Sales.

Dempsey’s focus will be to grow and create new revenue streams for M2M One across ANZ. She will be supported by Lone Misikini, General Manager of M2M One in New Zealand, and localised sales resources in both Australia and New Zealand.

In 2020, the M2M Group, including M2M One Australia and M2M Connectivity, was acquired by global IoT firm Sierra Wireless. Sierra Wireless acquired M2M One New Zealand later in 2020 to complement the M2M Group – creating M2M One as it is today operating across ANZ.
